TORONTO — Stephen Harper will hit the small screen in an episode of Murdoch Mysteries, a series on Citytv that counts the prime minister’s daughter among its biggest fans.

Harper and 11-year-old Rachel visited the set and met the cast of the show while in Toronto Friday.

Harper was also expected to participate in a “small cameo scene” during the visit, his spokeswoman Sara MacIntyre confirmed.

“The prime minister and Rachel watch the series regularly and are big fans of this popular Canadian show,” she said in an email.

The Canadian drama about a Toronto police detective in the 1890s is based on the mystery novels by Maureen Jennings. The show is currently filming its fourth season.

Harper previously made a cameo appearance in an episode of Corner Gas.
